Remember when Tivo first came out and it was them versus ReplayTV at the first two DVR’s (Digital Video Recorders)?
ReplayTV never went away, it just seemed that way as Tivo went on to dominate the DVR market (and lose tons of money, but I’ll save that story for another article).

When NBC left Apple’s iTunes store, the NBC and News Corp. joint venture “Hulu”, a new web-based video service, came online.
In a very, very closed private beta.
I’ve ready some good things about it, but I’ve never seen it…nor has anyone I know seen it…but maybe that doesn’t really matter so much anymore.

Microsoft has announced that the new version of Microsoft Office for Mac’s has been released to manufacturing for mass production.
Office 2008 is in Universal Binary format, which means it will be compatible with both PowerPC and Intel Mac’s.

Yesterday I reported that Palm was rumored to be laying off employees, possibly in the hundreds.
Looks like it’s true–according to a Wall Street Journal story, “yesterday, Palm made some reassignments and staff reductions.”
Palm’s world market share of the smartphone market is down to just 3.6%, down from 5.4% from the previous year.
