The latest firmware for the Apple iPhone, 1.1.2, was released on November 8, 2007.
A new firmware is expected to drop soon, but has someone gotten their hands on it early and leaked whats new?
It looks that way and there’s even a video at cre.ations.net to show off one of the new features–the ability to re-arrange icons on the home screen.
What else is new?
Assuming the leaked info is 100% accurate and nothing gets dropped or added before 1.1.3 is officially released, here’s what’s new:
- Able to send SMS messages to more than one person at a time.
- Google Maps can determine your location using cell tower triangulation (which I assume will allow for GPS-like navigation).
- Google Maps can display hybrid map view.
- The home screen supports pagination.
- The icons on the home screen can be re-arranged.
- Web bookmarks can be added to the home screen.
- Breaks AnySim unlock.
- Existing 3rd party apps disappear.
Check out a screenshot gallery here (the site seems pretty slow right now).
Hopefully more info about the 1.1.3 firmware and the upcoming SDK will be announced at Macworld 2008.
UPDATE: A new video has been posted showing not just the icons on the home screen being re-arranged, but EVERYTHING that’s been found in the 1.1.3 firmware so far. Check it out in this post at Gear Live. Its a bit slow right now, so give it time.
