The FCC auction for the 700MHz spectrum has hit round 17, and the minimum bid of $4.6 billion for the “C block” has been surpassed with a bid of $4.7 billion, triggering the open-access provision. What this means is that whoever ultimately wins this auction will be required to provide access to any compatible device.

MarketingWeek magazine is reporting that “senior industry sources” believe Google and Dell are working on a cellphone together, with a formal announcement possibly coming as early as the Mobile World Congress show in mid-February.
If the cellphone is real, it would of almost certainly be running Google’s Linux-based Android mobile operating system.

Dell has announced that it will be closing all 140 of its kiosks located in malls across the US to instead focus on its presence at retailers like Best Buy.
