It’s the new year–need help getting started with your get in better shape resolution?

New Years resolutions are popular, and the most popular one by far has got to be to get in shape and/or lose weight and gym attendance spikes.
Then, by February, maybe March, a lot of people stop going for various reasons, and the resolution is put off until the next year.
Want to avoid being one of those people?
Try one of these ten tips from That’s Fit to help get you started:
- If you’re an evening snacker find healthy alternatives. If you’re a social eater, plan outings that don’t involve restaurants.
- Get plenty of rest.
- Leave room for mistakes. We all make mistakes and not all plans work out all the time. If you make a mistake and eat something you shouldn’t, get over it and move on. BUT, don’t use this as an excuse to eat whatever you want. Remember–you’re trying to get in better shape, not find excuses to stay the same.
- Make a list of things you’d like to change and tackle them one-by-one.
- Eat brightly colored fruits and vegetables, plus whole grains.
- If you relax in the evening with a cocktail, try a low-calorie or no-calorie beverage instead like an herbal tea or some other low-calorie drink.
- Take smaller forkfuls. You’ll eat slower and end up eating less.
- When you’re eating, don’t multitask. Eat while you’re eating so you don’t get distracted and just keep shoveling.
- Learn to fight cravings and win.
- Stop eating when you’re not hungry anymore, not when you’re full.
Don’t give up–keep at it and you WILL succeed!
