The teaser banners hanging at Moscone Center for Macworld 2008 contain the message “2008. There’s something in the air.”
Two different rumors seem to be floating regarding what they mean by “air”.
According to MacRumors it will be a new, slim notebook computer called “MacBook Air” and will feature:
- A 13.3-inch screen
- Will NOT be a pro model
- Will have an external optical drive
There’s a different take on what it might be at BeepBoomBop where they have an allegedly “leaked” photo of someone (presumably at Apple) putting together a sign in Photoshop of a new NAS (Network Attached Storage) called “Air”. Accord to the post, the Air will feature:
- 500GB ($399) or 1TB ($499) versions
- Wireless support for 802.11n only
- Bonjour networking
- iTunes and iPhone library storage
- Any Apple Wi-Fi device can stream from it and sync with it
The NAS rumor is the most interesting to me because I haven’t seen it before and a NAS called “Air” sounds better than a notebook called “MacBook Air”.
Guess we’ll see soon…
UPDATE: Okay, its official–the NAS is the Time Capsule and the thing in the ai is the new MacBook Air. Check out the keynote highlights here.
