Nokia announced that they will soon be closing their German factory in Bochum, leaving 2,300 people out of work.
The reason for the factory closure is “market changes and increasing requirements for cost-effectiveness.”
Negotiations with labor unions have already and Nokia plans to close the plant as soon as possible.

At 9:14am today Steven Jobs took the stage and the keynote officially began.
Lets run through what was announced:
Updated Airport Extreme Base Station with built-in hard drive (500GB version for $299 or 1TB version for $499) called “Time Capsule” for backing up from Leopard with Time Machine application.

According to Stephane Maes, VP of Smartphone Product Marketing for Palm, the next version of their Palm operating system won’t be released until early 2009.
So what will Palm be doing for the rest of the year?
