According to several industry sources, an early version the next Microsoft Windows (for now just known as Windows 7, though it was once referred to under the codenames Blackcomb and Vienna) has already been send to key partners.
Windows 7, initially expected sometime in 2010, is said to on an accelerated schedule and may arrive in late 2009.
The popularity of Windows Vista a wee bit less than what was hoped for, so it’s not terribly surprising that Microsoft would try and accelerate the release of a Vista replacement.
Do you suppose there will be an online petition to save Vista the way there is to save Windows XP?
UPDATE: Looks like this rumor was wrong. Check out the details here.
