Contrary to the rumor that was making the rounds last week, the successor to Windows Vista, currently just called Windows 7, will not be released early.
According to Microsoft, Windows 7 is in the planning stages and development is expected to take roughly three years. That would put its release somewhere in 2011.

The high-definition disc format wars took a turn just before CES when Warner Bros. announced that they were abandoning the HD DVD format in favor of Blu-ray at the end of May 2008, leaving just Paramount and Universal in HD DVD’s camp and each of the have had their own defection rumors floating around.
