Jim Balsallie, co-Chief Executive at RIM (Research In Motion), makers of BlackBerry devices, sees how popular the Apple iPhone is in the consumer market.

He also sees sees that as of December 1, 2007, more than a third of RIM’s 12 million users are classified as non-corporate and non-government.

What can RIM do to grow even more in the consumer market?

Introducing the pink BlackBerry Pearl.

Take THAT, iPhone!!!

No, really, a pink BlackBerry Pearl.

I guess they’re trying to appeal to girls age 12 - 15 since most research seems to indicate that most women (and men) aren’t attracted to pink devices.

“Apple is certainly free to innovate and come into the market, but they are particularly strong in the consumer side,” said Balsallie. “Who knows if they can come across to enterprise?”

Quick, Apple, hit ‘em with a pink iPhone!
