Hardware issues for 8GB Eee PC forces delay to second quarter

An version of the Asus Eee PC with 8GB of flash memory from the factory is coming, but you’ll have to wait a little bit longer to get your hands on one.

Apparently Asus is having “minor hardware issues” related to the flash memory. As a result, it is not expected to ship until the second quarter of this year.

Asus had been on track to ship 1 million Eee PC’s this quarter, but that figure included the some of the 8GB units. With the delay, Asus was forced to lower their shipment forecast to 700k.
