Dell stops selling AMD-powered computers online, only available in retail stores [UPDATED]

Have you tried looking for a Dell computer online that’s powered by an AMD chip lately? Me neither, but if either of us were to try we wouldn’t be able to find one.

Dell has decided to stop selling computers with AMD microprocessors from their online store, meaning if you’re looking for one you’ll need to hit up one of their retail partners like Best Buy, Staples or Walmart.

Most of Dells business is from their online store, so this could hurt AMD. Plus, it may be an early indicator that Dell may be moving away from AMD chips completely in the not too distant future.

UPDATE: Dell said today that the whole things is being overblown and that they are still committed to AMD. This just signals a shift from online to large stores like Best Buy and Walmart and that there are no plans to completely phase out AMD processor-based systems.

Not the that they would tell us of such a plan existed, of course.
