Could Yahoo! be preparing to turn down the acquisition offer by Microsoft? That’s what Valleywag is reporting.
The Yahoo! board is allegedly preparing to formally reject the $44.6 billion deal, worth $31 per share, because they believe it is massively undervaluing the company.
What amount does the board think is fair?
At least $40 per share, which would make the purchase price around $60 billion.
Is that a price that Microsoft would be willing to pay?
Hopefully not. Some say it’s just another $12 billion, what’s the big deal. I don’t necessarily agree with that. Microsoft’s problems are not lack of diversification, its lack of focus. Buying the floundering Yahoo! will only make things worse.
