Netflix picks Blu-ray over HD DVD

If you have an HD DVD player, you may not have much luck renting discs from your local video store but at least you’ve been able to count on Netflix to fill your need for high definition movies. Since the beginning of the Blu-ray and HD DVD format war, Netflix has stocked both formats but that is about to change.

Netflix has just announced that in the future it will only be stocking Blu-ray titles, saying that its decision is based on the fact that most major studios are backing the Blu-ray format.

Netflix plans to phase out its stock of HD DVD discs by the end of the year.
