If you’ve ever tried to use WiFi at any one of your local 200 or so Starbucks locations, you’ve no doubt found that the service is actually T-Mobile’s HotSpots service, but it looks like that’s about to change.
Starbucks has just announced that they have signed a deal with AT&T to deliver tiered WiFi access to Starbucks customers.
Starbucks Card holders will be able to use up to 2-hours of free WiFi per day, and qualifying AT&T U-verse Internet customers can have free unlimited WiFi.
Other options for WiFi include paying $3.99 for 2-hours of access, or paying $19.99 per month and enjoying “access to any of AT&T’s 70,000 hot spots in 89 countries around the world.”
The new AT&T service will be rolled out market-by-market beginning this spring and is expected to be completed by the end of 2008.
