Today Google released a substantial update to its Android SDK, bring the version to m5-rc14.
The most obvious change is a move away from an Apple-like user interface. The dock at the bottom, very similar to the OS X Dock Bar, has been replaced with tray of buttons.

Toshiba has just released a firmware update for its A3, D3, A30 and A35 HD DVD players, bringing the firmware to version 2.0.
The A30 and A35 will now be capable of 1080p/24 video and all four receive some bug fixes for some playback errors with certain discs as well as improved network connectivity and HDMI/DVI [...]

Today RIM, makers of the BlackBerry, has released their BlackBerry Remote Stereo Gateway.

In a recent survey of mobile phone users by ChangeWave Research, 4,182 people were asked if they would consider themselves very satisfied with their mobile phone.

As was expected, layoffs have begun at Yahoo with an estimated 1,000 - 1,100 employees asked to leave (Yahoo has not yet released official numbers).
According to one source, every conference room at their Sunnyvale, CA, headquarters was booked all day so that human resources could meet with the employees being laid off.
