Toshiba is expected to announced that it is dropping HD DVD any day now. There was a statement released today, but it wasn’t quite what we expected.
A Toshiba spokesman said today that “Toshiba has not made any announcement or decision. We are currently assessing our business strategies, but nothing has been decided at the moment.”

Today’s the day when the FCC will allow US cellular carriers to switch off their analog networks.
Verizon, AT&T and Alltel currently operate an analog AMPS (Advanced Mobile Phone System) network and have been anxious to switch them off to free up cell sites, bandwidth, and maintenance dollars.

The long time rumor of an external Blu-ray player coming to the Xbox 360 is back again, but this time around it seems a little more possible considering the current state of HD DVD.

Of the 3.7 million iPhones that Steve Jobs claims to have shipped through mid-June 2007, China Mobile is claiming that roughly 400,000 of them are in China on their network right now.
If that’s accurate, that means that more than 10% of those 3.7 million iPhones are unlocked and operating in China right now.

Word on the street is that Verizon is set to introduce new packages this Tuesday including a couple that include unlimited voice.
The packages are expected to be:
$100 - Nationwide Unlimited (voice)
$120 - Nationwide Select Unlimited (voice, SMS, MMS)
$140 - Nationwide Premium (voice, SMS, MMS, VZNav, VCAST, email)
