Apple updates MacBook, MacBook Pro [UPDATED]

The rumors of refreshes coming to the Apple MacBook and MacBook Pro lines were true–earlier today the Apple online store went down and when it came back the MacBook and MacBook Pros had been updated with faster CPU’s, larger hard drives and more RAM.

MacBook

The $1,099 base model comes in white and its standard specs include:

  • 2.1GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
  • 1GB memory
  • 120GB hard drive
  • Combo drive

The next step up, the $1,299 model, comes in white and its standard specs include:

  • 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
  • 2GB memory
  • 160GB hard drive
  • Double-layer SuperDrive

The (relatively) high-end $1,499 model comes in black and its standard specs include:

  • 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
  • 2GB memory
  • 250GB hard drive
  • Double-layer SuperDrive

MacBook Pro

The $1,999 base models standard specs include:

  • 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
  • 2GB memory
  • 200GB hard drive
  • Double-layer SuperDrive
  • NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT video card with 256MB memory
  • 15-inch screen

The next step up starts at $2,499 and its standard specs include:

  • 2.5GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
  • 2GB memory
  • 250GB hard drive
  • Double-layer SuperDrive
  • NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT video card with 512MB memory
  • 15-inch screen

The top of the line model starts at $2,799 and its standard specs include:

  • 2.5GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
  • 2GB memory
  • 250GB hard drive
  • Double-layer SuperDrive
  • NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT video card with 256MB memory
  • 17-inch screen

All of the MacBook Pros now include a multi-touch trackpad. If you were hoping for a Blu-ray drive, sorry–go fish.

UPDATE: The Apple Remote that used to be included with all MacBook and MacBook Pros is now a $19 option.  I agree, it sucks. Just keep it in mind if you are getting read to order a new MB or MBP that you’ll have to manually add the remote if you want it.
