The US division of i-mate located in Redmond, Washington, had a busy day Friday laying off the entire engineering, QA and tech writing departments (among others).
Chief Software Officer and VP of Sales and Marketing are also both gone, with the sales director set to be promoted to GM of everything.

Microsoft and the Library of Congress have reached a deal where the Library of Congress will use Silverlight on their new website. In exchange, Microsoft will provide a $3 million grant in technology and services.
