Remember that hot Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 smartphone showed off a few weeks ago at Mobile World Congress?
It was supposedly coming to “select markets” in the second half of 2008, but according to Sony Ericsson Blog the actual release date is now going to be 10/2/2009 February 2, 2009.
If that’s true, how competitive will the X1 be in late 2009? That’s a long time from now and a lot of other hot products will be released between now and then.
UPDATED: This story hasn’t been confirmed or denied yet, but it looks like the date was wrong–it was in European format. The actual date that was written was February 10, 2009.

This will hurt the phone sales when it actually does come out. That gives competitors more than enough time to release their products and an update to the iphone might be just around the corner.
