Deutsche Telekom to buy Sprint?

Deutsche Telekom, T-Mobile’s parent company, may have to consider purchasing US cellular carrier Sprint according to an investment note by Merrill Lynch.
Merrill Lynch feels that the recently announced unlimited voice and data plan by Sprint may trigger a price war with T-Mobile that T-Mobile may not be able to sustain. Deutsche Telekom buying Sprint would keep that from happening as well as give Deutsche Telekom a larger presence in the US market.
Some things that might complicate the deal is that T-Mobile and Sprint use different network types. T-Mobile uses a GSM-based service while Sprint uses a CDMA network, neither compatible with the other.
