As some of you may already know, Google has been trying to work its way into television ads with their Google TV Ads beta. Some of the cable companies, not so keen on losing out on potential revenue, have decided to try and do something about it.

Dubbed “Project Canoe”, Comcast, Bright House, Cablevision, Cox, Charter and Time Warner have gotten together to launch their own advertising platform.

The cable providers will be able to draw data directly from the set-top cable boxes, valuable data for delivering targeted ads and advertisers would be willing to pay big bucks for that.
