According to the Nikkei, Toshiba is likely looking at a 100 billion yen (roughly $982 million) loss on HD DVD from just 2007 alone.
Toshiba has no comment on the story, saying “we did not announce this, and therefore we cannon comment,” but shareholders are taking it seriously with Toshiba shares opening down 2.3% after the report.
Electronics giant Toshiba won’t be closing down anytime soon–they still managed to post a profit of around 250 billion yen (roughly $2.4 billion).
