Apparently the Apple iPhone is starting to get into short supply, with some Apple stores starting to run low and online customers facing a 5 – 7 day shipment delay.
Fanboys will tell you that could only mean one thing: an iPhone refresh is nearly upon us.
While I’m 90% sure that an updated iPhone will be shipping this year, I’m not getting too excited yet. It could be a lot of things causing the perceived shortage, including the recent battery fire at LG Chem.
I would expect to see an iPhone refresh closer to June just before the App Store opens, but I could be wrong.
UPDATE: Okay, I might be wrong…CrunchGear is reporting that Ralph de la Vega, AT&T Mobility CEO, said today at CTIA that all of AT&T’s smart integrated devices will be 3G within a couple of months. When asked if that would include the iPhone Vega repeated what he had just said and added “that should be clear enough.”
