Sony announces HDR-TG1, world’s smallest 1080i camcorder

Sony today announced a new camcorder, the HDR-TG1 (called the HD TG3E in Europe), the world’s smallest camcorder able to capture 1080i video.
Measuring just 1.3 x 4.7 x 2.5 inches and weighing just 10-ounces, features of the HDR-TG1 Handycam will include:
- Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar 10x optical zoom lens
- 2-megapixel ClearVid CMOS sensor
- BIONZ processing engine
- 2.7-inch LCD display
- Face detection for both video and still images, able to identify up to 8 faces
- Able to record video at 1920 x 1080 and 4-megapixel still images
- Ships with 4GB PRO Duo Mark2 media card and supports both the PRO Duo Mark2 and Memory Stick PRO Duo formats
No word on just how much video it will be able to squeeze onto the included 4GB media, but we’ll find out pretty soon since its scheduled to ship next month.
Retail price will be around $900.
