I don’t know how many of you have been following this story, but when Nokia announced that it was going to be closing a plant in Bochum, Germany, German officials weren’t so thrilled with the news since they’d given Nikia €41.3 million (roughly $60.5 million) in subsidies to help convert the former television factory in into a mobile phone factory.
Nokia hasn’t changed their mind about closing the plan–they still plan to move the manufacturing to other areas (including China) where labor is cheaper–but they did agree to pay $314 million to smooth things over.
