EA-Land (aka The Sims Online) shutting down

Roughly two months ago EA announced that The Sims Online was coming back and that it would be called “EA-Land”.
Gamers could “exist” in the EA-Land virtual world and life a second life online, much like the popular virtual online world Second Life.
Via a blog post, EA has announced that it is closing the “EA-Land experiment” on August 1st of this year.
Current subscribers can get either $15 off a game from the EA Store, or a three-month membership to Pogo.
People who have spent real world money to get Simoleans (the currency used in EA-Land to buy things to enhance your virtual world experience) are a bit less than thrilled with EA’s decision.
