In a recent test by Computerworld AT&T was found to have the fastest 3G network around and according to AT&T mobility chief Ralph de la Vega they’re about to get even faster.
While speaking at Morgan Stanley’s annual Communications Conference, Vega said that the AT&T’s HSPA network will be improved from a theoretical maximum download speed of 3.6 megabits per second to roughly 20 megabits per second and it plans on doing this next year.
According to Vega the increase in speed won’t require a major reworking of the company’s existing cell tower infrastructure and for the most part will involve a network software upgrade.
