
Adobe has released a public beta of its Flash Player 10, aka Astro, for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.
Flash Player 10 is the first version to support hardware acceleration from graphics processors.
Other new features in Flash Player 10 are:
- Support for 3D
- Enhanced drawing API
- Support for custom filters and effects in real time using Adobe Pixel Bender (formerly called ‘Hydra’)
- Support for variable bitrate video that can automatically drop quality to maintain a constant framerate
- More advanced text layout
Adobe asks that you uninstall any existing Flash Player before installing this beta version.
