Sun to layoff up to 2,500

According a to a story at WSJ, Sun has posted a loss of $34 million for their third quarter and will be forced to reduce its workforce by up to 2,500 jobs.

AT&T laying off 1.5 percent of workforce

After the acquisition of several regional companies recently and a sluggish US economy, AT&T has announced that the “next step in streamlining its operations” is to reduce its workforce by 1.5 percent.

AMD cuts revenue estimates, laying off 10% of workforce

Chipmaker AMD today announced that it was forced to lower its Q1 performance forecast from $1.6 billion to $1.5 billion and will be laying off 10% of its workforce by the end of Q3.
Their new Q1 forecast of $1.5 billion is 22% above the same time last year, but 22% behind Q4 of 2007.

Investors have been accusing CNET of underperforming for a while now. To please investors and plan for “long-term growth”, CNET has announced that they will be laying off 120 people (roughly 10% of their staff).
