Delta airlines has announced that they will be installing Wi-Fi onto their entire domestic fleet, or more than 300 planes, by the first half of 2009.
The airline will be using Aircell’s Gogo service and will cost $9.95 for flights under 3 hours or $12.95 for longer flights.

Currently if you travel with a laptop computer in your carry on bag, when you go through an airport’s security checkpoint you need to remove it from the bag so that it can pass through the X-ray machine on by itself.
Apparently that’s about to change if you have the right bag.

Delta Airlines has announced by the year 2010 they will install Thompson Solutions Cozy Suite seats into all of its Boeing 777 and 767 planes.
The Cozy Suite seats will over 31-inches of legroom and the seat has a “fixed backshell, which does not recline into the person behind you.”

When you travel by plan somewhere, I’m reasonably confident that you like either a window or an isle seat (lucky guess). Beginning May 7th, prepare to pay at least $5 more for either one of these if you fly US Airways and want to sit near the front of the plane.

Delta and Northwest Airlines have announced that they intend to merge in a deal worth more than $3 billion, making the combined Delta-Northwest the largest airline in the world.

Another week, another airline bankruptcy.
Frontier Airlines has announced that they have filed for bankruptcy, but unlike ATA and Skybus they will continue to operate as it restructures.
The airline says that its credit card processor was “holding back” customer payments and threatening the airline’s liquidity, which is how then ended up applying for Chapter 11 protection.

Wow, tough times for small airlines.
Skybus Airlines, the “Spirit of Columbus”, announced yesterday that it was closing down and would be filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Monday.
This makes Skybus the third airline to announce that they were closing this week, with the others being Aloha and ATA.

Just days after Aloha Airlines announced that it was shutting down, word comes out that ATA Airlines has canceled all flights and filed for bankruptcy.
Once the 10th largest carrier in the US, ATA has entered bankruptcy protection for the second time in just over three years yesterday, citing the loss of crucial military charter business.

Aloha Airlines announced that they have stopped selling tickets for future flights and are shutting down. Other airlines, including United Airlines, will reportedly help accommodate customers who currently have tickets.
